HR 884 Reissuing Final Rules Regarding Gray Wolves in the Western Great Lakes

Oppose this bill because Congress should not intervene by circumventing the Endangered Species Act.  The court order clearly stated that the decision by USFWS to delist wolves in the Great Lakes Region and Wyoming was arbitrary and capricious.  Rather than ordering the USFWS to reissue the prior ruling, Congress should support the downlisting of wolves to “Threatened” status.  This is a reasonable compromise endorsed by scientists, researchers and many organizations.  It would afford states the flexibility to remove problem wolves while providing wolves a measure of protection.
