Wolfwatcher Urges You to See “True Wolf”

Koani was a beautiful ambassador wolf who is featured in the film,True Wolfby Tree and Sky Media ArtsBruce Weide and Pat Tucker, Koani’s human companions, wanted to give her life purpose, so for sixteen ye
ars, this unusual “pack” traveled into the hot beds of anti-wolf territory hoping to teach the public the truth about wolves. This film, produced by Pam Voth and directed by Rob Whitehair, tells a story about Koani’s incredible educational mission!

Those of us at Wolfwatcher saw the film, and we support its message enthusiastically because it moves people to a rational understanding of wolves.

Koani’s story hit Wolfwatcher’s Director of Wildlife Science, Maggie Howell, close to home!   Maggie is also the Managing Director of the Wolf Conservation Center. Her work with Atka, an Arctic gray ambassador wolf, continues Koani’s legacy.  Atka embraces new faces and places making him a great wolf educator; in fact, he visits over 150 schools, nature centers, museums and libraries annually to help people learn about the importance of his wild “brothers and sisters.”   During a recent visit to the Wolf Conservation Center,  Maggie discussed    “True Wolfand the WCC’s  own ambassador wolf program with Wolfwatcher’s Junior Advisers:

We believe Koani’s story is so important that it needs to be shared nationwide, especially now that legislation that can potentially affect the future of wolves in the wild is pending in state governments and in Washington D.C. For this to become a reality, the film has to be seen.

After an exclusive run in Seattle, “True Wolf” will begin showing in the following cities. Please check theater websites for show times. You can also encourage independent theaters in your area to contact Shadow Distribution to schedule a screening.

Updated screenings will be posted on the True Wolf website and True Wolf: Koani and Her Unusual Pack Facebook page.

Let’s honor Koani’s legacy by supporting

ambassador  wolf programs nationwide…
