Filmmaker and Conservationist – Elke Duerr!

Posted on

October 1, 2010 – The Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) is kicking off October with a special presentation by Elke Duerr and the grand opening of the WCC’s Mexican Gray wolf exhibit!

Duerr is currently working on a documentary about the Mexican Gray Wolf recovery effort called “Stories of Wolves: The Lobo Returns.”  As a participant of the Mexican Wolf Species Survival Plan, the WCC is among the largest facilities housing these rare creatures prior to their release into the wild.  Duerr will give us the new perspective of lobo conservation, a view from the recovery zone in the southwest where only about 40 of wolves remain today.

After the talk, guests will join us for the unveiling of the WCC’s Mexican Gray wolf exhibit – be the first to behold some endangered lobos that Duerr and the WCC are trying to save from the brink of extinction!   Guests will also visit Ambassador wolves – Kaila and Atka* as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves.  Pre-registration is required.  Register now at www.nywolf.org.
